CHANGE (v) chaynj - become or make something different

Demanding our rights

CHANGE is a national rights organisation led by disabled people. We campaign for equal rights for all people with learning disabilities.  We raise awareness of the issues.

CHANGE is at the forefront of employing people with learning disabilities to develop and run it's projects.  Paid on equal scales to non-disabled staff the experience and expertise of the learning disabled workers supports CHANGE to continue to develop as an exemplary rights organisation.

Demanding our rights

CHANGE  is the organisation that was the driving force behind getting the DFES and the DOH government departments to work together around parents with learning disabilities.

CHANGE is the organisation that took the lead in pioneering the production of tools to make information easier to understand.  We campaigned to get the government to make changes in the laws about information being made more accessible.
We produced the Picture Bank - a CD Rom of images that can be used to make information easier to understand.  We are constantly producing new CD Roms of images.

Our trainers with learning disabilities train doctors, midwives, healthcare workers, law professionals, inspectors and government organisations.
We train them how to make their information accessible and how to work in a way that respects the rights of people with learning disabilities.
